Whole Corn
This is the entire corn kernel ground or chopped. It must contain not more than 4% foreign material. Ground corn may also appear in the ingredient list of a mixed feed as corn meal or corn chop.
Soybean Meal
Although the soybean was primarily grown as an oil-bearing seed, its protein value has become equally important. In fact, soybean meal is is the most widely-used protein concentrate in the feed industry useful in the feeding of all farm animals. It is obtained by grinding the flakes remaining after removal of most of the oil from dehulled soybeans by a solvent extraction process. It must contain not more than 12% moisture.
Soybeans
A major U.S. row crop, soybeans are primarily grown as an oil-bearing seed. The oil and the crushing byproducts have a multitude of uses in the food and feed industries, as well as many industrial uses.
Soy Hulls
This is a byproduct from the soybean crushing process, consisting primarily of the outer covering of the soybean. Guaranteed Analysis: 8% Minimum Crude Protein; 0.5% Minimum Crude Fat; 40.0% Minimum Crude Fiber.
Soy Hull Pellets
This is the pelletized form of soy hulls. Pellets provide a higher density product more suitable for bulk transportation and easier to handle. Feed mills grind the pellets before blending into feed.
Corn Gluten Meal
This is the dried residue from corn after the removal of the larger part of the starch and germ, and the separation of the bran by the process employed in the wet milling manufacture of corn starch or syrup or by enzymatic treatment of the endosperm. It may contain fermented corn extractives and/or corn germ meal.
Corn Gluten Feed
This is the part of commercial shelled corn that remains after the extraction of the larger portion of the starch, gluten and germ by the processes employed in the wet milling manufacture of corn starch or syrup. It may or may not contain fermented corn extractives or corn germ meal.
Canola Meal
This is the meal obtained after the removal of most of the oil from rape seed or canola seed. Canola meal must contain a minimum of 35%protein, a maximum of 12% crude fiber and a maximum of 30 micromoles of glucosinolates per gram.
Corn Distillers Dried Grains
This is obtained after the removal of ethyl alcohol by distillation from yeast fermentation. The resultant coarse grain fraction of the whole stillage is separated and dried by methods employed in the grain distilling industry.
Beet Pulp Pellets
This is the dried residue from sugar beets which has been cleaned and freed from crowns, leaves and sand extracted in the process of manufacturing sugar.
Citrus Pulp Pellets
This is the ground peel, residue of the inside portions, and occasional cull fruits of the citrus family which have been dried, producing a coarse, flaky product. This product is often pelletized to facilitate transportation and handling.
Dicalcium Phosphate
This is a calcium salt of phosphoric acid and its hydrated forms. It must not contain more than one part of flourine to 100 parts phosphorus. Dicalcium Phosphate is an excellent source of both calcium and phosphorus.
Hominy Feed
This is a mixture of corn bran, corn germ and part of the starchy portion of either white or yellow corn kernels (or a mixture thereof), as produced in the manufacture of pearl hominy, hominy grits or table meal. It must contain not less than 4% crude fat.
Whole Cottonseed
This is the unprocessed and unadulterated oilseed which has been separated from the cotton fiber. It is fed widely to early lactating cows for its dense protein, fat and highly-digestible fiber.
Wheat
A whole grain, wheat is primarily milled to produce many types of flours. Wheat byproducts, for example, wheat bran, wheat middlings, and wheat shorts, are widely used in the feed industry.
